Benefits of Working for Freshwinds
Freshwinds always offers a competitive salary and a generous leave entitlement. We also have an established ethos of fully supporting our staff and some of the other benefits of working for Freshwinds are outlined below:
Employee Assistance Programme
All Freshwinds’ employees have access to an Employee Assistance Programme which provides a free helpline for advice and information on a range of topics including health, money management, drugs and alcohol and anxiety/depression. The service also includes access to an online health and well-being portal which holds a library of downloadable information on a wide variety of health-related topics such as healthy eating, smoking and stress. This service is provided to help support our staff in dealing with difficult circumstances and maintaining healthy lifestyles.
Health and Well-Being Support
Freshwinds is committed to encouraging and supporting our staff and volunteers to adopt healthier lifestyle choices. This year is Freshwinds’ “Year of Health” and we have a designated Health Champion who coordinates health promotion activities and acts as a point of reference by providing literature and resources on a variety of subjects such as smoking cessation, healthy eating and caring for your heart.
As well as this, we encourage our staff and volunteers to leave their car at home and walk or cycle to work and we encourage them to take advantage of the government’s Cycle to Work initiative which enables individuals to obtain tax relief on the purchase of a new bike. We are also offering a Stop Smoking Bonus to any member of our staff or any volunteer who is able to demonstrate that they have stopped smoking for a period of 6 months. These individuals will receive £100 worth of shopping vouchers.
Thoughtfulness Days
On the 13th of every month, Freshwinds’ staff participate in a Thoughtfulness Day. During the days, our staff are encouraged to be particularly considerate of those around them and are asked to reflect on a particular theme or relevant topic. Throughout the day there are 3 protected periods of 5 minutes for everyone to have a quiet space, undisturbed by those around them, to think and reflect.
During the lunch hour on each of these days, there is the opportunity to participate in an activity to promote relaxation such as massage, meditation or a tai-chi or yoga class. These activities are provided free of charge and all Freshwinds’ employees are offered the opportunity to participate.
Away Days
Away days are an ideal opportunity for staff and volunteers who would otherwise not have the opportunity to meet, to talk with one another, share their experiences and build stronger working relationships. All Freshwinds employees and key volunteers are invited to attend and have the opportunity to spend a day away from their usual work environment to get to know their colleagues in a relaxed social environment.
On 30th September this year, Freshwinds’ staff and volunteers will be taking an away day in the Malvern hills.
Redeployment
Freshwinds always strives to redeploy its staff rather than making redundancies where possible. We support our staff to develop a range of skills which enable them to work in a variety of areas. This approach means that we have the ability to retain members of staff who would otherwise have been subject to redundancy by redeploying them into new and challenging roles within the charity.
