Mission Statement
Freshwinds LGBT Project exists to make those within the LGBT community feel safe from threat and distress, and to raise awareness of LGBT issues within the wider community. We aim to assist the empowerment of people within our community to come together and tackle issues of homophobia, racial harassment and other discrimination.
Freshwinds LGBT project has been alive and kicking for 7 months now. We exist to provide free support and advice to anyone that identifies as being Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual or Trans. We have a team of staff and volunteers that are LGBT; that provide free and confidential support.We are the only organisation in Birmingham that offer these services to Lesbian and Bisexual women.We provide 1to1 support, free counselling, crisis intervention, and mentoring.
We can help with housing issues, health issues, debt management, cultural stigma, employment issues and coming out.
Counselling
Freshwinds counselling service provides support to people who are facing issues such as anxiety, coming out, sexual identity, depression and relationship difficulties. Our counsellors are all fully qualified and receive ongoing supervision on a regular basis which follows the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) Ethical Framework for Good Practice in Counselling and Psychotherapy.
