Joint International Project Initial FocusThe Sobat river and the Junglei Sudd area has been experiencing a chronic lack of life saving services. Due to insufficient capital input the delivery of services has become increasingly difficult. Goals here include developing and improving the capacity for basic primary healthcare including increasing the awareness and prevention of communicable diseases including HIV/AIDS. Others include strengthening management and administrative functions of community based organisations and where appropriate create new ones. The "Multi Centre" programme will serve as a point of connection and assistance for the Southern Sudanese communities. Facilitating better health and socio-economic development, it will emphasise national and regional unity within the Junglei Sudd area. The Multi CentreThe initial programme, the "Multi Centre" delivering clinical services and supporting socio-economic needs, originated with Freshwinds/ACCR organisations, both based in Birmingham (UK). The "Insight Development and Liaison Centre" aspect aims to deliver development through multimedia training, vocational projects and community empowerment workshops. This has been designed and originated from the work and experience in the UK and Ethiopia by Joseph Edwards, founder of Ethiopian Insight UK.
